Apple Airtags Battery Replacement – These Are The Right Type

How To Replace The Batteries In Your Apple AirTags

One of the great features of the newly released Apple AirTags is the fact that the batteries are user-replaceable. This means that you don’t have to send the AirTags to Apple or visit an Apple Store simply to have the batteries replaced.

The batteries used in the AirTags are the CR2032 (click to view on Amazon).

These so-called coin batteries are nothing new and have been used in watches, remotes, and even remote key fobs for a long time.

There are different sizes of these batteries though, and some might look like the right ones but be too small, or too large, therefore it’s important that you get the right type.

How Do You Change The Battery In An AirTag?

To replace the batteries, simply push down on the metal disc part of the AirTag and twist it. It will then come off/open up, and you’ll see the battery.

Now you can take the battery out and put in the replacement.

How Long Does The Battery Last?

According to Apple, one battery should last for up to a full year, and your iPhone will get a notification when it’s time to change the battery.

Do AirTags Use The Same Batteries As Tile?

There are different Tile models. AirTags do use the same batteries as the Tile Pro, but not the same as the Tile Mate. The Tile Mate uses CR1632 batteries.

The Tile Slim and Sticker do not have user-replaceable batteries.
