Charge Your AirPods Pro With A Wireless Charger
One of the outstanding features of the AirPods Pro (click to view on Amazon) is the fact that you can wirelessly charge the case they come with.
The case is a portable battery that extends the battery life and lets you recharge the AirPods when you’re out and about.
But how do you charge the AirPods Pro case, and how long does it take? That’s what this article is going to answer.
How I Charge My AirPods Pro
The AirPods Pro case can be charged with Qi-certified chargers or the included lighting cable.
I use the Miroddi wireless charging station (click to view on Amazon), which is made for the AirPods.
Miroddi includes a USB A to USB C cable, so all you need to do is plug the included cable into a USB port or a power adapter (I bet you have an old one somewhere).
Simply place the case on the charger with the indicator LED-light facing up.
What I like about this specific charger is the design, it looks and feels like a high-quality product and it looks great on my desk even without the AirPods on top.
If you have several devices that support Qi-charging, you might like this multi-device charger made by Woruda (click to view on Amazon).
No matter which Qi-charger you choose, you need to make sure it’s a certified product, otherwise it might not work.
How Do You Know If It’s Charging?
On the front of the case, there is a small LED-light that is used as an indicator when you pair, connect, or charge the AirPods.
Place the case on the Qi-charger with this indicator faced up, then make sure it lights up which tells you it’s working and charging.

What’s A Good USB Wall Charger/Power Adapter?
I bet you have an old USB wall adapter at home that would work, just make sure it can output at least 1A @ 5V, or 5W.
I like the Amoner 3-port USB plug since it lets me plug in more than one device so it’s great for traveling or a nightstand.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do AirPods Pro come with a wireless charger?
No, the only thing included by Apple is a USB to Lightning cable. A charging brick, or a wireless charger is not included.
How long does it take to wirelessly charge AirPods Pro?
When you put the AirPods in the case, it takes about 20 minutes if the case has enough battery. A five-minute charge will supply an hour of listening time.
When you place the case on a Qi-charger, it depends on the charger used, but the case should be fully charged within an hour or two. You can check the battery status of the case with your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, or MacOS X device.
Is wireless charging faster than using a cable?
No, but depending on the charger, it might be just as fast.
What about the old AirPods?
The older AirPods with charging case can also be charged wirelessly. The big difference between these and the Pros is the fact that the Pros have active noise cancellation and a transparency mode.
If you have the first generation you cannot use a wireless charger unless you upgrade the case to one that supports Qi-charging.
Can you charge AirPods Pro without a case?
No, the only way to charge the earbuds is by placing them in the case.
Can you charge the AirPods Pro case without the AirPods inside?
Yes, you can charge the case while listening to music, but this will obviously not charge the earbuds themselves.
How do I make my AirPods battery last longer?
It depends what you mean. Do you mean how you extend the battery life while using them, or decrease the damage done to the batteries over the long term?
In the first case, you can extend the battery life by not using the microphone. You can also lower the volume.
In the second case, try to never fully discharge your AirPods. Try to keep them above 20%, and they will keep a charge for much longer.
